New York: Doubleday & Company, 1951
First edition. First printing. A fine copy, only with the slightest edge wear to the boards and a little lean to the spine. Some toning to the pastedowns, unworthy of note. The contents crisp. The unclipped dust jacket nearly fine, showing just a touch of wear at the extremities. A tiny closed tear at the bottom of the front panel, and a little nick at the bottom of the rear panel. An outstanding copy overall of Asimov’s second science fiction novel, continuing the Empire Series after Pebble in the Sky. He would go on to write over 500 books, and is remembered as one of the “Big Three” writers of science fiction, alongside Robert Heinlein and Arthur Clarke.
