First edition. Small nicks at the head and foot of the spine. Faint toning and staining to the endpapers but the contents very nice throughout. A very good to near fine example of this historically important first hand account of the American Civil War, related as a series of letters from the Union Captain to his students in New York. At a time when Northerners had largely only read official military reports, Nott’s Sketches gave personal and candid insights into harsh realities of the war.
