New York: Henry Holt and Company, 1958.

First edition, first printing. Signed by the author on the first free endpaper in blue fountain pen. A near fine, unread copy, only with a little scuffing to rear board. A slight blemish to one edge of the outer text block, not affecting the contents. The dust jacket very good or better, with a little chipping and edge wear as well as a couple of tiny closed tears. A very nice example overall of Hoover’s account of Communism in the United States. He was history’s most well known - and controversial - FBI director. At the hight of the Cold War, he would direct the Bureau’s attention principally to anti-Communist investigations.
