Inscribed by the author on the title page: “A Tom / affettuosamente / Umberto.” Light scratching to the back board, but otherwise a near fine copy. The dust jacket very good only with general wear and tear. An early milestone in Eco’s career, which would lead to his recognition as an authority - and eventually as a lasting influence - in the study of semiotics. Very scarce (if ever seen) signed or inscribed.
